Teso Paramount Chief Papa Emorimor makes landmark visit to Lango, calls for peace, unity and stronger cultural ties
Lira City , Uganda |The Paramount Chief of Teso, His Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etimeileng, has made a landmark visit to the Lango Sub-region, using the engagement to strengthen cultural relations and promote peace, unity, education and cooperation between the Iteso and Lango communities.
The visit brought together cultural leadership and community stakeholders around a shared message of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and the need for communities in northern and eastern Uganda to work together in addressing challenges affecting their people.
Papa Emorimor’s engagement in Lango is being viewed as an important cultural outreach, particularly at a time when traditional institutions continue to play a role in promoting social cohesion, preserving cultural identity and supporting community development.
During the visit, emphasis was placed on the historical and social connections between the Iteso and Lango people, with calls for the two communities to strengthen relationships through cultural exchanges, dialogue and joint initiatives.
Education was also highlighted as a critical pillar for the future of both communities. The cultural leader encouraged greater attention to the education of children and young people, noting that access to quality education is essential for developing responsible citizens and creating opportunities for future generations.
The visit further underscored the importance of traditional leaders in complementing government and other institutions in maintaining peace and resolving community challenges through dialogue.
