Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealer Ocen Gadaffi In Lira City Raid

LIRA CITY | Security forces have arrested a suspected drug dealer, Ocen Gadaffi, during an early-morning operation at his residence in Barapawo Cell, Lira City West Division.

Gadaffi was apprehended alongside another man whose identity had not yet been established by police. Investigators said the operation was conducted after security agencies received information linking the residence to suspected drug-related activities.
According to authorities, several suspected members of the group escaped when security officers raided the home. Police have since launched a manhunt for those who fled the scene.
During the operation, officers reportedly recovered two pairs of army boots, several sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, and fresh cannabis plants allegedly growing in the suspect’s compound.
The two arrested suspects are being held at Lira City West Division Police Station as investigations continue.
Lira City Resident City Commissioner Lawrence Egole described Gadaffi as a suspected repeat offender and accused him of being linked to a group allegedly responsible for security disturbances in Barapawo and neighbouring cells.
Egole said Gadaffi had previously been arrested several times but was released before appearing in court, adding that authorities would now pursue the case through the legal process.
“Gadaffi has been arrested several times; however, he was always released by police even before being taken to court,” Egole said.
He further alleged that the suspect had been harbouring members of the gang that security agencies believe has been causing insecurity in parts of Lira City West Division.
Police have urged members of the public to provide information that could help authorities locate the suspects who escaped during the raid.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspects will be processed in accordance with the law.
