Government, Tooro kingdom discuss official burial arrangements for late king oyo

KAMPALA, Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, has joined Tooro Kingdom officials in paying tribute to the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV as preparations for his official burial get underway.

Nabbanja, together with the Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Tom Butime, and the Omuhikirwa (Prime Minister) of Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, held a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister to discuss arrangements for the burial.

The meeting focused on preparations for the official burial granted to the late Tooro King by the Government of Uganda.

During the meeting, the leaders paid tribute to Omukama Oyo, who died at the age of 34, and reflected on his contribution to the Tooro Kingdom, Uganda’s cultural heritage and national unity.

The Government’s decision to accord the late King an official burial underscores his significance as a cultural leader and institution bearer.

Further details on the burial programme and other arrangements are expected to be communicated by the Government and Tooro Kingdom authorities.

The passing of Omukama Oyo has continued to draw condolences from leaders, cultural institutions and members of the public across Uganda and beyond.
