Archbishop Kaziimba commends amolatar, Lango Diocese for unity, mission and plans to develop Uganda’s geographical centre

Amolatar, Uganda | The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, has expressed his appreciation to Christians and leaders in Amolatar District, as well as the Diocese of Lango and West Lango Diocese, for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him during his farewell visit.

Archbishop Kaziimba thanked the Bishops of the two dioceses, Prof. Alfred Olwa of the Diocese of Lango and Bishop Julius Ceaser Nina Otim of West Lango Diocese, together with their diocesan management teams, clergy and Christians, for the fellowship and welcome extended to him during his visit.

He particularly commended the two dioceses for the strong emphasis they have placed on mission and evangelism, describing the training and equipping of Christians for mission as an important responsibility of the Church.

Kaziimba highlighted the work of the Sira Dongo Mission Centre, saying its efforts to prepare men and women for mission serve as a reminder that the Church should not only gather believers but also equip and send them out to spread the Christian faith and make disciples.

“Training and equipping men and women for mission, through the Sira Dongo Mission Centre, is a powerful reminder that the Church is called not only to gather believers, but also to prepare and send them out to make disciples of all nations,” he said.

The Archbishop also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to make his maiden visit to Olyaka in Amolatar District, a location identified as being at the geographical centre of Uganda.

He said he was encouraged by the vision to develop Olyaka into a site of national and international significance, noting that its strategic location gives it potential to attract greater attention and investment.

Kaziimba called for continued cooperation between the Church, Government and other stakeholders to support the full development of the site.

He specifically urged continued collaboration involving the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA), the Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) and other relevant institutions.

The Archbishop said such cooperation would be important in turning the vision for Olyaka into a reality and positioning the site for greater national recognition.

He further commended Bishops Olwa and Nina Otim for what he described as a strong spirit of unity and teamwork between the two dioceses.

According to Kaziimba, the cooperation demonstrated by the diocesan leadership reflects the Church of Uganda’s provincial theme: “Anchored in Christ for Unity, Stability, and Peace,” drawn from Ephesians 2:14–17.

His visit comes at a time when church leaders in the Lango sub-region continue to emphasize evangelism, Christian fellowship, community development and cooperation in advancing the mission of the Church.

The Archbishop’s remarks also place renewed attention on Olyaka and Amolatar’s geographical significance, with calls for the Church, Government and development partners to work together to unlock the site’s potential.

The farewell visit therefore brought together questions of faith, mission, unity and regional development, while highlighting the role of the Church in contributing to the social and spiritual transformation of communities in Northern Uganda.
