Janet Museveni Thanks God for ‘Second Chance at Life’ After Health Ordeal

First Lady Janet Museveni has publicly spoken about a difficult health experience she went through earlier this year, saying she believes God gave her a second chance at life through prayer and divine intervention.

Janet made the remarks during the consecration of her daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop of the Covenant Nations Churches.In an emotional address, the First Lady said she had reached a point where she could no longer speak for herself, but continued to receive prayers from prayer warriors and intercessors across different churches.She said she believes the prayers, combined with years of personal intercession for Uganda and vulnerable groups, played a significant role in her recovery.Janet, who became emotional as she narrated the experience, said she had seen God’s faithfulness during what she described as one of the most challenging moments of her life.She suggested that her years of privately praying for the country, widows and other vulnerable Ugandans may have been reflected in the mercy she received when she needed it most.“I believe God remembered all those years of praying and interceding for others,” she said, while describing her recovery as an answer to prayer and a fresh opportunity to live.The First Lady attributed her healing to God, whom she described as the ultimate physician who does not abandon or refer difficult cases.She also cited Isaiah 53:5, a biblical passage widely associated with healing and restoration, as part of her testimony.Her account came as she joined family members, church leaders and worshippers to celebrate the elevation of Pastor Rwabwogo to the episcopacy.The emotional testimony added a personal dimension to the consecration ceremony, with Janet using her experience to encourage believers to maintain faith in God and continue praying, even during moments of severe difficulty.She said her experience had strengthened her conviction that God remains faithful and is capable of intervening when human strength and medical assistance appear insufficient.The First Lady’s remarks have since drawn attention, particularly because she had not previously spoken publicly in detail about the health challenge she said she experienced earlier in 2026.
