Lango delegation endorses gen. muhoozi kainerugaba for uganda presidency in 2031

Kampala, Uganda | A delegation from the Lango Sub-region has endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency of Uganda in the 2031 general elections, adding to a growing mobilisation campaign behind his political ambitions.

Delegates of PLU from Lango Sub-region led by Hon. Sam Engola, Oyite Emmanuel and Hon. Joe GMK, among those involved in the mobilisation.

The Lango delegation reportedly travelled to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretariat in Nakasero, Kampala, where they joined other groups endorsing Gen. Muhoozi’s presidential bid.

Reports circulating from PLU mobilisation activities indicate that the Lango team was led by Hon. Sam Engola, while other reports identify PLU mobilisation figures from Lango, including Oyite Emmanuel and Hon. Joe GMK, among those involved in the mobilisation.

The endorsement comes at a time when Gen. Muhoozi has openly declared his intention to contest for Uganda’s highest political office in 2031. He recently stated that he would stand for the presidency and that his supporters should begin preparations for the campaign.

The PLU mobilisation drive has also involved the collection of endorsement signatures. Gen. Muhoozi has reportedly set an ambitious target of 20 million endorsement signatures by September 2027, with a separate mechanism planned to capture women’s support.

A social-media update attributed to Daudi Kabanda said that more than 6,300 endorsement signatures were collected during one of the recent mobilisation activities, with Lango among the regions represented.

The latest development places Lango among the regions whose political actors and PLU supporters are publicly mobilising behind Muhoozi’s 2031 presidential project.

It also comes against the backdrop of growing political activity around PLU as the movement builds a nationwide support network ahead of the next electoral cycle.

However, the endorsement by the delegation should not be interpreted as an official endorsement by every political, cultural or community institution in Lango unless such an institutional resolution is separately announced.
