Odonga Otto receives warm welcome at PLU secretariat, praises PLU leadership

kampala,Uganda | Former aruu county member of parliament and politician hon. odonga otto has visited the patriotic league of uganda (plu) secretariat in kampala, where he attended the launch of the organisation’s latest initiative and held discussions with its leadership.
Otto was warmly received at the secretariat, with hon. twalla fadil describing him as a senior brother, politician and environmentalist who had honoured their invitation.
“my senior brother, politician and environmentalist hon. odonga otto has touched base at the plu secretariat for today’s launch. thank you for honoring our invite and being open minded my brother,” twalla said.
During the visit, otto was accorded a special reception and proceeded directly to the office of the plu secretary general, where he held a cordial meeting with the party leadership before joining the wider public gathering.
The former legislator said he was impressed by the reception he received, noting that he was spared the long waiting queue and taken straight to the secretary general’s office for discussions.
“i was honoured to be given such a warm reception at plu secretariat. i was saved from the long queue straight to the sg’s office where we had a cordial meeting,” otto said.
Otto also addressed the public gathering, where he received what he described as a loud ovation from those in attendance.
He further praised the plu secretariat’s newly showcased website, describing it as “incredible” and signalling his willingness to maintain engagement with the organisation.
“the website is incredible. we shall continue engaging. the s.g is doing great. congrats,” otto said.
The visit has attracted attention within uganda’s political circles, particularly because otto has for years been associated with opposition politics and outspoken commentary on national governance, while the plu has emerged as a growing political force.
His decision to attend the launch and engage directly with plu leaders could therefore open further space for political dialogue and interaction between the former legislator and the organisation.
However, otto did not announce any change in his political affiliation during the visit. His remarks instead focused on the warm reception, the discussions held with the leadership and the need for continued engagement.
The meeting comes at a time when uganda’s political landscape is increasingly characterised by alliances, political realignments and engagement across party lines ahead of the country’s next political cycle.
