Kampala,Uganda 》Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a fresh 72-hour ultimatum to State Minister for Local Government Justine Nameere, demanding that she apologise to him or face removal from her ministerial position.
In posts attributed to Gen. Muhoozi on X on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the CDF stated that Nameere had exactly 72 hours to apologise, adding that failure to do so would result in her removal from the ministerial post. The remarks mark a further escalation of a public dispute involving the two political figures.
Muhoozi turns attention to masaka
In another post, Gen. Muhoozi said he was coming to “rescue” the people of Masaka from Nameere. He subsequently claimed that the people of Masaka support him and President Yoweri Museveni rather than Nameere.
He further stated that if Nameere doubted his claim, he would go to Masaka and campaign for his preferred candidate. He did not, however, identify the candidate he intends to support.
The comments have brought the dispute into the political arena in Masaka, where Nameere serves as the State Minister for Local Government and represents Masaka City as Woman MP.

The confrontation between Muhoozi and Nameere intensified after a short video circulated on social media appearing to show Nameere making remarks directed at Muhoozi and warning him against interfering with NRM legislators.
However, reports on a longer version of the recording indicate that Nameere was addressing Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General and Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda, rather than Muhoozi.

The latest posts therefore represent another public escalation of the disagreement, with Muhoozi now specifically linking the dispute to Nameere’s ministerial position and the political situation in Masaka.

National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Rose Nalubowa has petitioned the Masaka High Court challenging Nameere’s victory. The case concerns the recount that resulted in Nameere being declared the winner after the initial election outcome had placed Nalubowa ahead. The High Court scheduled the matter for September 22, 2026.
According to the court report, Nalubowa’s lawyers want the court to determine whether the recount that produced Nameere’s victory was lawfully conducted.
The electoral dispute has added another layer to the political controversy surrounding Nameere as she simultaneously serves as an MP, Cabinet minister and political figure within the ruling establishment.

PLU Secretary General Daudi Kabanda has also featured prominently in the disagreement.
Reports indicate that Kabanda questioned Nameere’s victory in Masaka City and called for a by-election, further increasing political pressure around the minister.
